Signal Transmission

Systems for signal transmission in automatic gates

Systems for transmitting sensor signals to gates play a crucial role in the safe operation of automatic industrial gates. They ensure that the heavy gates in the industrial environment function efficiently and reliably by recording various parameters and transmitting them to the control system.

Coil Cord spiral cable for transmitting sensor signals

Coil cord spiral cables are considered to be the classic transmission path for sensor signals to the control system. The flexible length of the spiral cable is used to reliably transmit the signals from the sensors and switches on the door leaf, even while the door is moving.

Wireless systems for wireless transmission

When radio systems are used, it is possible to transmit the status of the signals to the door control unit wirelessly. In this case, a transmitter, which is usually battery-powered, is mounted on the door leaf and transmits the sensor and switch signals to the receiver installed in the door control unit. Since the sensor signals include safety-relevant signals, these wireless transmission systems must be certified according to the relevant standards in order to be used on industrial doors. The systems are usually designed so that a battery change during the annual door maintenance is sufficient for reliable operation.

Inductive signal transmission

In inductive signal transmission, the sensor signals are transmitted without contact using inductive technology. A transmission cable is stretched over the length of the door leaf. The sensor signals are induced onto the transmission cable using the coil cores of the inductive signal transmission system and received on the control side at the stationary coil core. The advantage here is that the power supply for the sensors on the door leaf can also be inductive. This means that a battery-powered power supply and the associated battery replacement are not necessary. However, depending on the type of door, the installation of these systems is more complex than that of alternative systems.
