Comparison of the Runner and Starter S2 models

Sommer sliding gate operators offer innovative solutions for a range of gate sizes and applications. The Sommer Starter S2 sliding gate operator is ideal for private driveways and smaller gates up to 6 metres wide and 300 kg in weight. It impresses with quiet operation, soft start/stop function and easy installation.

In the Sommer Starter S2+ version, even gates up to 400 kg gate weight and 8 m trolley travel can be automated. It is important to note that when using the Starter S2+ variant, it is essential to ensure that the main and secondary closing edges of the sliding gate are protected in accordance with the relevant standards, e.g. by means of safety edges.

For larger and heavier gates, the Sommer Runner sliding gate operator is the perfect solution. With a maximum gate width of 8 m and a weight of up to 600 kg, it can easily meet commercial requirements. The Runner also offers smooth gate movement, intelligent safety technology and a durable, weatherproof design.

Here, too, there is a Plus version for particularly large and heavy gates, the Sommer RUNner+. This can be used on gates up to 800 kg in weight and with a trolley travel of 12 m. The Sommer RUNner+ may also only be used in conjunction with standard-compliant protection of the main and secondary closing edges of the sliding gate by means of safety edges or comparable safety devices.
