The Surewinder is a professional spring winding tool for winding and unwinding torsion springs on garage doors and smaller sectional doors. With a maximum torque of 115.8 Nm, a weight of only 3.4 kg, and its compact design, the Surewinder combines high performance with excellent handling during installation, maintenance, and service work.
The integrated self-locking worm gear is driven by a suitable power drill. This allows the torsion spring to be wound and unwound in a controlled manner while significantly reducing the manual effort compared with traditional winding bars.
Lightweight yet powerful
At only 3.4 kg, the Surewinder is pleasantly lightweight and easy to handle and position, even when working directly on the torsion shaft. At the same time, the tool provides a maximum torque of 115.8 Nm and is designed for torsion springs with wire thicknesses of up to 9 mm.
This combination of low weight and high performance makes the Surewinder a practical tool for daily installation and service work. It is suitable for spring diameters from 51 to 95 mm and torsion shafts with a diameter of 25.4 mm (1").
Compact design for confined installation spaces
In addition to its low weight, the Surewinder stands out for its compact design. A minimum clearance of only 64 mm is required between the torsion shaft and the wall. This allows the spring winding tool to be used on door systems where space around the torsion shaft is limited.
Self-locking worm gear for controlled operation
At the heart of the Surewinder is its self-locking worm gear. Due to its design, the torque of the tensioned torsion spring cannot cause the tool to rotate backwards on its own. Rotation is generated exclusively by the connected power drill.
A 14 mm 6-point socket is used to drive the tool. A suitable power drill in drilling mode therefore performs a significant part of the work that would otherwise have to be carried out manually. The result is an efficient winding and unwinding process with significantly reduced physical effort – a noticeable advantage, especially with regular use.
High-quality stainless steel and bronze construction
The Surewinder is designed for professional use and is manufactured from 304 stainless steel and bronze. This robust combination of materials provides high load capacity and durability without making the tool unnecessarily heavy.
Compared with spring winding tools that combine aluminium, steel, and plastic components, the Surewinder features a particularly high-quality and robust construction. Spare parts are also available for long-term use. Wear and replacement components can be replaced separately when required.
Safely stored in a hard case
The Surewinder is supplied in a robust hard case with foam insert. The tool and its components are protected and neatly stored during transport and storage.
This is a practical advantage for everyday installation work: the tool can be safely transported in a service vehicle and taken directly to the job site in its case.
